Glenfarclas 1978 Cask

Many regard Glenfarclas as one of the top-notch distilleries in Speyside. Utilizing direct-fired stills, they craft a robust single malt predominantly matured in Jerez sherry casks. The distillery prioritizes single malt over blends, benefitting from a cool microclimate that makes their casks less generous to the “angels,” resulting in an exceptionally rich stock. Glenfarclas is also credited for contributing to the contemporary fondness for cask strength whisky, having introduced their acclaimed 105 proof expressions in 1968.
The remarkable cask inventory in Glenfarclas warehouses has led to numerous vintage distillery bottlings alongside their core range age statements. In 2006, the distillery proudly presented an unbroken series of vintages dating back to 1952 and introduced the Family Casks range—an annual release highlighting the cream of the crop.
