World Whisky Award 2009 Highland Park 21 Years Old
DESCRIPTION
Highland Park, located in the Orkney Islands to the north of the Highlands, is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and the northernmost whiskey distillery in the world. As the name suggests, the distillery sits on top of a hill, and its buildings, made entirely of dark rock, at first glance look like part of the mountain. Stylized, the distillery values peat as much as Isle of Eyrey, but USES sherry casks like most Highland distilleries to create a rich, multi-layered complexity. Like this award-winning wine, it was launched in 2007 as a duty-free shop product with a 47.5% alcohol content. Note that this is a very different work from the second edition of the winery’s 21 years (40% bottled).
