Each bottle in this series was produced from Karuizawa’s final two vintages, 1999 and 2000 and bottled at cask strength. The labels feature artwork by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, depicting Mount Fuji from different aspects. This is from Batch 34 with the painting ‘Mount Fuji from the mountains of Tōtōmi’. The Karuizawa distillery was opened in 1955 in Miyota, near Mt. Asama – an active volcano. Since ceasing production in 2000, it’s increasingly rare whiskies have topped the auction charts for returns in the Japanese segment. 61.4% Alc./Vol.
