Karuizawa Fuji View Batch 3

From Karuizawa’s ‘Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji’ series released by La Maison du Whisky in mid 2016. These expressions were drawn from casks of 1999 and 2000 vintage whiskies and offered at cask strength. This bottle is from the third batch in the range. Each of the 36 labels depicts landscape prints by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist, Hokusai, with Mount Fuji illustrated from different locations in various weather conditions. The Karuizawa distillery was opened in 1955 in Miyota, near Mt. Asama – an active volcano. Since ceasing production in 2000, it’s increasingly rare whiskies have topped the auction charts for returns in the Japanese segment. 60.5% Alc./Vol.
